Wow factor retail

If there's one thing the mega fashion house brands know how to do it's the retail experience.

How stunning does this new look Louis Vuitton flagship store in London look?

Geez I wish it had been open when I was in London back in early October.

Infinite play

I absolutely love this recycling idea from Adidas. Great little video too. But for some strange reason I haven't seen it advertised anywhere or even promoted in-store. It's still early days I'm hoping...

Diamond Journey

I don't know how much this very expensive looking ad cost. Nor do I know who the agency is that made it. But what I do know is I'll never get those three minutes and eighteen seconds back.

How many zeros!?

This pic came up in my Twitter feed on Friday.

It was taken by Colin Lewis at the Global Travel Summit.

In case you're wondering that enormous number is the amount that booking.com and expedia spent on advertising with Google in 2018.

Just to clarify that figure is $10.6 Billion.

To be honest I find it hard to comprehend a number of that size. Especially as a proportion of marketing spend.

Although it may explain why so many hotels of late are complaining so much about booking.com and their fees.

Unexpected brand collab

This surely has to be the most unexpected brand collaboration in recent memory.

Italian fashion house Moschino and all American lager Budweiser.

Click on the pic to enlarge and you'll see quite clearly the clothing is branded as Moschino.

But at a glance you'd swear it was Budweiser.

Unexpected. Yes.

Unattractive. Most certainly.

Kinda clever. The jury is still out.

Music to my ears

Came across this image while clearing out a whole bunch of random images sitting on the always cluttered desktop of my Macbook.

It looks like it's a few years old. But what a lovely packaging idea.

The sort of thing I'd expect from Apple to be honest.

Dave Trott says...

A friend sent me a link to this Dave Trott video while I was on hols in Europe. I finally got around to watching it today. Just brilliant. Make yourself a coffee and put aside some time to listen and learn from one of the best in the biz.

Hungry New Yorkers

The food delivery battle is really heating up.

So many services. Seemingly unlimited options.

Makes the days of a home delivered pizza seem like the dark ages.

So how to differentiate in an increasingly cluttered market?

Well the US brand Seamless has started micro-targeting New Yorkers.

Very clever and fun type too.

Creative by BBH NYC.

This is our game

It can be hard to quantify the importance of the game of football to people who don't get football. But I honestly don't care about those people. This is a simply beautiful piece of film by Umbro.

I think everybody I know could use one of these.

Actually I might order one for a Kris Kringle gift.

Not really shot on Samsung

Apple's 'Shot on iPhone' campaign is much awarded.

And rightly so. It is a brilliant example of product demonstration.

Samsung however...

Well they have a teeny weeny disclaimer on their photography ads that says 'Creative visualisation. Images are for representational purposes only.'

Click the pick to enlarge and see for yourself.

Piss weak don't you think?

Show me the money!

I cannot even begin to imagine how much this Playstation spot by Adam&EveDDB cost to make.

Visually it's breathtaking. Beautiful use of music too.

But I have no idea what exactly it is advertising.

Obviously I'm too old to be a gamer. So that may explain why it went right over my head.

But like I said...How much did it cost to make this epic?

It's an ad actually

This pic was shared on Twitter last week. It's from a talk at Web Summit in Lisbon.

Now I don't know 'bout you but I'm calling bullshit.

I reckon both Bernbach and Ogilvy would be proud to call their work advertising.

As would the Saatchi brothers.

So what point the person on stage is trying to make I do not know.

But I do know that people hate being tricked and mislead by ads disguised at something they are not.

So say it loud and say it proud - we make ads!

Gun Shop

Using a a dizzying 24 frames per second progression this film shows 2,328 guns in a very brief time. It's a beautiful yet disturbing commentary on America’s love affair with guns by film maker Patrick Smith.

Chillax with Churchill

Caught this cute spot on the Tv when I was in England a few weeks back.

I'm a dog lover so of course it made me smile.

Reaction on Twitter was interesting as the bulldog was an update from an apparently much loved animated dog.

To be honest I reckon the naysayers on social media are wrong. But hey what would I know!?

Clever copy

That my friends is a headline.

Damn I wish I'd written it.

Kudos to the agency Onward in London.

Oh and be sure to check out Spoke pants here.

Before & after Apple

The old iPod ads with the white headphone cable are justifiably iconic.

Which may be why I find myself somewhat unmoved by Apple's megasized outdoor campaign for the new AirPods Pro.

It's certainly eye catching. But not in the visually arresting way the old iPod campaign was.

The story behind however is interesting. At least for advertising people.

Because the posters went up with no AirPod in sight. Nor was there any branding.

That came after the product launch.

Like I said. Interesting. But hardly earth shattering.

Devil's Advocate

Came across this Marketoonist gem scrolling thru Twitter during a two hour layover in Dubai. Suffice to say it sent a chill down my spine.
