In thru the out door

Found this on a Tumblr.

Not sure if it's a print ad or an ambient piece.

Either way it's kinda clever.

Can airport parking kill?

If there's anything about airport parking that could kill you it's the actual cost of the parking.

Obviously airportparkingreservations.com thought there may be other factors.

They also thought it was funny when they sent out the email above.

An email that a helluva lot of people didn't find funny. At all.

At just $4.99 who could resist?

Imperial Stout 426C please

Everyone loves Pantone cards. In fact I'd go so far as to say they're iconic.

But I never expected them to become the inspiration for beer packaging.

These cans were designed by Spanish agency Txaber and each can matches the colour of the beer variety inside.

They have aluminium bottles just like this too.

Here's hoping the beer tastes as good as the packaging.

Brand meme overkill

Somebody retweeted this on my Twitter feed the other day.

Have to admit it caught me eye.

And then I saw this. And this. And this. And this...

What makes Guinness so special?

For me Guinness is one of the world's greatest brands. Yet it's a drink that's hard to love for many people.

Anyway I love it. And I'm proud to say I worked on it when I was in London.

I also visited the brewery in Dublin on my 40th birthday.

So I think you can imagine how much I love this brand film with a seriously good narration by Cillian Murphy.

The Ice Bucket Challenge

Seems to me that articles and opinion pieces about the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge are currently taking up more of my Linkedin feed than Ice Bucket videos themselves.

It's like everyone is either doing it or writing about it.

Except in the boardrooms of corporations where half arsed marketeers are currently struggling to come up with their very own 'ice bucket' viral.

Oh well...

The breath holder

This has to be the nicest ad I've seen for this category.

Really simple. Really sweet. And really powerful.

Let me be brief

Gotta say I like the look of this film.

In fact I'm hanging out for it so I can play it for my colleagues at work.

And if Mr Frank Gehry himself says a good brief is important then why oh why do we continue to put up with substandard ones?

Should you check your email?

Pretty hard trying to read this infographic so maybe try clicking it to make it bigger. Failing that maybe go check your email.

How they make Crayolas

This afternoon I had to go with my son the the art supply store to pick up some art supplies.

Used to be he was happy with a set of felt tip pens or a box of Crayolas. Not anymore.

Anyway wandering the store choking on some of the prices I couldn't thinking back to how much Max loved Crayolas when he was little.

Which may explain why I enjoyed this little film so much.

Restaurant at Harvey Nichols

When I lived in London I often used to see Harvey Nichols posters in the Underground.

And I imagine at full size these beautifully art directed posters would look quite wonderful.

But even tiny like this they are still beautiful.

You just need to squint a little before you get them.

Next time label it

Always wanted a labeller when I was a kid. Now I simply wish I'd made this ad.

Stan and Seth

No I haven't seen this person.

Yet.

But that is all about to change.

I'll be at the Art Gallery of NSW today where I will be spending the day with Seth Godin and a handful of marketing types.

To say I am excited is a major understatement!

The goodness of dairy

Every once in a while I see an idea that I know has come from the childhood of the creative team.

This is one of those ideas.

Wonderful headlines and great photography.

The campaign was shot not by a big name photographer but by blogger Stephanie Congdon Barnes.

Gorgeous work by the always reliable W&K London.

Who shot the Messenger?

It's been absolutely ages since i used MSN Messenger.

Years in fact.

Which probably explains why I didn't know it had been discontinued.

Oh well. Best go check my Facebook!

The steady hand of Weisgerber

I could sit and stare at this little film all day. It is utterly mesmerising.

Glen Weisgerber is a self taught artist and master pinstriper.

His work has graced literally hundreds of trucks, custom bikes, race cars guitars and more.

If you like what you see search him up on YouTube for more hand lettering demos.

Wisdom of Warhol

If you ever sat in a research group you'll understand why I love this Warhol quote so much.

#myinstagramlogo

I have no idea where the idea of people recreating the Instagram logo in photos came from but I have to say I like it.

If you're not familiar with the concept do a search for the #myinstagramlogo hashtag.

Instagram say they were not responsible for the hashtag or any of the photos. So who am I to call them out on this?

What I will say though is this is a great example of brand advocacy.

And isn't that what we're all striving for?

Seriously clean with Bissell

Those who know me well know there's nothing I love more than a good product demonstration.

This is an absolute cracker for a new cleaner by Bissell that steam cleans and vacuums at the same time. Kudos to KBS+ Toronto and Mr Ravi Dalchand.
