Twitter turns five

Happy 5th birthday Twitter.
I could be wrong but I very much doubt that when Jack Dorsey posted that very first tweet that he imagined there would be a billion tweets a week just five years later.
That's impressive growth no matter how you look at it.
When it launched Twitter employed 8 people. Now it around 400.
For me though one big question remains unanswered - how on earth they make enough money to pay those 400 hundred people?

350 million in outside capital
400 employees that have been working there for 5 years
Based on these very rough calculations that is 175 000 per employee per year.
I think they are making some of it back with their promoted TT and tweets, but not all yet.
i know how they could make money, but maybe i should keep it a secret and sell the idea to them and make my own little pile of monies.
