Warhol Perignon

I started rereading The Philosophy of Andy Warhol this morning.

It got me wondering when it was that Warhol died. Which the book blurb revealed to be 1987.

That's almost a quarter of a century ago.

Which makes me ponder why oh why Dom Perignon feel the need to release a Warhol inspied edition of their overpriced bubbles.

Ironically it's the kind of idea that Warhol would really love.

But really. What is the point and who is the target market for this stuff?

One of the world's most expensive champagnes just released a limited edition (I assume) Warhol version of their famous bottles and you're wondering who the target is? The target is anyone with more money than sense.

Dom Perignon has been separating fools from their money for a long, long time.

Dick Frizzell designed some wine labels last year, which were pop arty and kiwiana awesome. But he's a living artist.

Also have you seen the newspaper clipping of a guy who got murdered called Dom Perigion Champagne (sic)? http://annarosekerr.tumblr.com/post/870230771

I used to work for a licensing agency in London representing the Andy Warhol Foundation...this could be some sort of licensing deal? Marc Newson also designed a bottle case for Dom (or was it Veuve?) can't remember.
