Let's ban Facebook at work!

New research by managed security services company Network Box says that employees visit Facebook twice as often as Google at work.
That’s the kind of damning statistic to really get employers calling for a workplace ban on social media sites.
The research analysed around 13 billion URLs that had been visited by a sample of workplaces during the first quarter of this year.
So they must be accurate right?
Of course they’re accurate but how ‘bout we take a closer look at those Facebook related numbers.
According to Network Box 6.8% off all network traffic went to Facebook and 3.4% went to Google.
So yes Facebook is visited twice as often as Google at work. But it only accounts for 6.8% of all web traffic at work.
Which really isn’t very much at all. Is it?

Interestingly the 5th most popular site visited by workplaces was the ad server Doubleclick. Which just goes to show that people do click on banner ads.
No, it’s not done if we have greater contacts then our business fulfill the requirements of the client...
@Stan Do the hits include actual visits to the website or is every ad (of the Doubleclick network) that loads also counted as a visit? (Which doesn't necessarily mean that people click on the ads)
Nothing wrong with a bit of leisure in between the work. You can't be completely focused for 8 hours a day.
Easily! I check facebook so much I find myself non-consiously going to it sometimes!
Hi,
The author has done a great work. I appreciate his work.I am highly oblige for this because it helps me a lot.
totally agree facebook wshould be banned as it is not a business tool but a social network for meaningless chit chat and playing silly online games like mafia wars or farmville. when was the last time you did anything serious on FB...
