Tits 'n auto

I've worked on a lot of auto brands during my career including Ford, Peugeot, Chrysler and Volkswagen.

And in all that time I never ever wrote an ad quite like this one.

I also never worked on a brief where headlamps were considered a key selling feature for a car.

Honestly who approves this stuff?

Surely someone at Ulster Trader or their agency must have thought this was not a particularly clever idea?

Apparently not. Here's the ad in-situ:

Seems the British Advertising Standards Authority were not too keen on the ad and have just banned it.

I'm surprised they approved it in the first place!

In their defence Ulster Traders argued that their billboard used "light-hearted slang, to what people of both sexes would regard as attractive attributes."

As the Andy Millman character from Extras would say - Are they havin' a laff?

Sadly, we have no pre-vetting process for any media other than TV in the UK. Everything is supposed to adhere to the CAP code (which I'd imagine has a clause in it they've ignored that says something like "Don't make shit ads") but the only monitoring of it would have been done after the event.

fuck i'm weary of tits in ads. i'm sick of girls bits being fucking fodder for cheap, immature, one-liner gags linked to crappy products and services.
pretty sure the ad wouldn't have even got past the CD if it had been a huge scrotum with 'tight nuts. what do you look for in a car?'. i can't even believe i wrote this much about it. it's boring.

hey zac, ed and you gen-x marketing kids, how's about making T&A soooo last century - seeing as the rest of the generations seemed to fail miserably at it.

I think fair play. It's just light hearted fun. Well done Ulster Trader!
