Nobel Prize for denim?

Far be it from me to question the work of the mighty Wieden & Kennedy but WTF!?
What on earth has Levis got to do with gender equality or the Nobel Prize?
Bugger all if you ask me.
Back in the 60's and 70's Levis was definitely a part of the counter culture. Hell it was practically a uniform for longhairs and bra-burners everywhere.
But where is Levis in 2009?
Of course I could be completely wrong. And research labs across the world may well be populated by women wearing Levis.
But somehow I doubt it.

Someone here in NYC told me, "Every client wants to be a social movement. They all want to be the next livestrong."
Here's proof: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_70xGUxznYY
Thing is Tait, Livestrong was all about Lance Armstrong. Not Nike. They may have facilitated it, but even people who don't like bikes love a man who can overcome cancer and conquer the world.
Damn straight. Lance Armstrong rides bikes and beats cancer. Nike sells shoes. What do you do?
What do I do?
I think you know what I do.
Or was that a metaphorical question?
Ha, yeah. I should have put it in inverted commas. "Sarcasm".
you know how cynical i am when it comes to gratuitous crap in advertising stan, especially when it comes to the representation of women.
but i have to say, i'm paying attention now. i'm hoping that they're working towards an image in street fashion that isn't always just about the American Apparel style porn shots and girls-as-sexy-coathangers.
i don't know - it's not 100%, but it's something a little bit intriguing. there's a possibility of it being good. and maybe that's just 'cos i'm old.
I would have thought the levi button- up fly would be far to impractical for the nobel type minds!!
