Best of British

When was the last time you saw a financial services ad as good as this in Australia?

Classic big budget, I'd never have thought of that, British advertising from BBH.

Great music track too. Bellamy Brothers I think?

Nice ad... but can anyone anyone spot the continuity error?

Also, where does he keep that card exactly?

The ad is a great piece of cinema (nicely shot, nice music) but who was it for - anyone. Im in the UK at the moment - seen the ad a 100 times but had no idea who the brand was.

I absolutely love that ad ... smiled from start to finish (5 times). That bit where he gets stuck in the library and the 'squeak, squeak' sound as he gets stuck is great.

I feel compelled to download the song from iTunes as I have been whistling it ever since.

Adam - I agree, couldn't answer your question about who it was for but sometimes I like ads that just make me feel good or laugh. This is a great example of that.

People beat up on the Commonwealth Bank ads (where they engage the American Ad agency) but I recon the jokes are hilarious ... the bloke boxing the Kangaroo and getting smacked in the head is great on so many levels as he asks "Is my moustache ok?"

Still won’t bank with CBA but I am happy to watch ads that contribute to "feeling good".

Continuity error in the Bellamy Bros track, fizzypopman, but that's probably not what you meant.

Nice spot, especially when all the banks are going down the tubes.

Good point Adam. Sadly quite a common error in modern advertising I think. Could it be a result of creative people being so focussed on being single minded that they forget about branding?

Like Daniel I also love the squeak sqeak bit. Been there many times myself!

Pun of the week award to Writer and Camilla is forgiven for being nice to Kiwis.

Thanx for the comments everyone.

You know I thought it was going in a completely different direction ... I expected this to be about the brand and not about a product. Seems like a lost opportunity.

Who wouldn't have loved to be involved making the ad?
I smiled when he slowed down in the bank! I think the concept is excellent and its catchy. However, its the kind of ad that need lots of straight forward branding to leverage its effectiveness.
