Where's the shrimp?

Tourism Australia has just released the much anticipated tourism spots by Baz Luhrmann.
Strangely in this age of social media they have posted then to YouTube yet disabled the ability to embed them.
So I can't post it to my blog.
Why?
Are they afraid people might be critical of them?
Is it because Lurhmann's ego isn't up to blogosphere chatter?
Who knows.
I'm sure someone will have cracked the disable code by the end of the week.
In the meantime here's the PR blurb for the ad on YouTube:
"See the film-styled advertisement Baz Luhrmann has created for Tourism Australia. Here the cool, deep billabong shows the rejuvenating power of Australias landscapes and experiences."

Once you've gone walkabout be sure to come back and let me know what you think.

Big thumbs up from me.
It is a vast improvement from the 'She'll be bloody right' - image that we seem desperate to portray. Beautifully shot, great tagline and it's got that hot girl from 'the secret life of us' in it. Can't go wrong.
Great strategy (same as we used at Pure Creative), but the Aboriginal child worries me a little. Is it tokenism? Or stereotyping? Or something - the nearly naked child walking the streets of New York just feels a bit off.
When this campaign bombs will the tourism people exclaim "where the bloody hell are ya?"
Beautifully shot - but story lines in the ads seem a bit too much of a cliche to me.
I like them... I think they're crafted beautifully but I doubt how "inspiring" they'll be to persuade people to come here.
I mean... both show the Northern Territory. Do you think tourists will be disappointed landing at Tullamarine and there isn't tea lights hanging from the tress?
I'm all for showing nice stuff, but how about some nice REALISTIC stuff that people will be able to LIVE if they visit here? I know aspiration and emotion are needed and we work in advertising so the TRUTH is not always the most appropriate selling tool, but fuck me Australia doesn't suck that much does it? Really? Tea lights in the middle of nowhere? Is that all we have?
Also on your point about embedding... I'm constantly annoyed at major record company channels on YouTube who disallow embedding of music videos... surely it's the ultimate promotional tool? But yet again they are too precious to protect their "product" without seeing the priceless benefits. God they're fucking retarded aren't they?
They're up the tree? That's novel. Next they'll be doing Tai Chi as the sun goes down.
The embed code is available on the YouTube page, Stan...
i know that creating a beautiful piece of art is really important. it's important to uplift people. and i'm not usually a 'money better spent' kind of girl, but given the amount that was spent on this commercial, i'm so annoyed. they could have spent 10% on a TVC to be played on airlines and downloadable in youtube (ever heard of the term ADVOCATE?), 20% on the lives of those aboriginal children, 20% on uplifting the attractions we already have here, 10% on improving airline frequency to get people here, 20% on internal tourist transport links (like towards a VFTN) and 20% on a fucking website. i don't know anyone who ever, ever chooses a place to go based on fucking ad. tourism australia, i'm sorry, but you need a new strategic planner.
Thanx to Zac for alerting me to the availability of the embed code.
I went to YouTube to take a look and guess what - comments on the video have been disabled.
What on earth is going on?

I wonder what that couple have climbed the tree to escape from
I love it. Love it. It makes me happy. I'm glad someone put the magic back into Australian Tourism We're always relying on the vernacular. Not anymore. Yey.
I love it! I find it inspiring and emotive. I live here -but wanna go here!? (though...Melbourne IS quite different from the Northern Territory!!)
As someone who 'mutes' or changes channels at add time - this is probably one i WOULD watch over & over!
Try embedding the version from The Inspiration Room version at YouTube.
