Let's stop moving forward
I've heard more than my fair share of buzzwords and bullshit during my career in adland.
Acronyms. In jokes. Tech terms. Cliches.
I've heard them all.
The phrase that's getting me down the most at the moment though is moving forward.
This week I heard used it in a briefing. More than once!
I heard it at a client presentation yesterday.
I also heard it used in the car on the way back from the presentation.
Moving forward I no longer want hear anyone use the words moving forward.
Ever.

Amen.
Do you ever hear this one in a meeting:
"Let's discuss that offline."
Meaning: "Why don't the two of us take that on in private, away form this meeting."
Arrrrgh!
"Hey Dad, the car is moving forward".
Hehehe.
I'm so delusional at times - and since I don't actually 'work' in companies that I tend to think when I use buzz words, that I've made them up myself! Doh!
I blame being married to an accountant... but moving forward... (I know, horrible!)
I have to put up with "Let's take this offline" every Monday morning at our work in progress meeting.
Aaaagh!!
I know, when you go forward you're moving anyway. Odd.
'Topline discussion' is one of our suits faves.
Hear hear, Stan. The other one currently giving me the shits is 'Legacy' being used to describe something old or outmoded. 'Legacy systems', 'Legacy airlines'. Aaaargh!
you know, i'd never heard it before - until this morning and i've heard it 3 times already!
thankfully our WIPs NEVER end in 'let's discuss that offline'.. if they did, i think we'd all have to vomit!
Hey Stan
I will make a promise to you, I promise that I will at least use the term ‘push this thing forward’ at least three more times this year. I think there are a number of things that we can do as a community around social media to push this thing forward (there is one time). Love your work Stan.
