Excess baggage

For some unexplainable reason the humble tote bag is huge right now.

Although nowhere near as huge as this seriously huge tote developed by new Melbourne agence Jane.

Kinda cute don't you think?

Although I have no idea what you'd do with a bag that big.

Jane does though. So click here to go find out.

Just one small change....

Ask any creative person and they'll tell you that client comments are often hard to stomach.

They infuriate you. They perplex you. And quite often leave you wondering if you and the client are talking about the same piece of work.

They are however an occupational hazard.

If you let these innane comments get to you then you'll end up prematurely grey haired. Trust me I know!

Brighten The Corners are a London agency who've taken their frustrating feedback and turned it into lovely posters.

They're even selling them if you want one for your office wall.

Pretty good idea I reckon. Because when those comments start to wear you down you can look at your poster and draw strength from the fact that you are not alone.

Hat tip to Hayes.

Where's the good stuff?

I went up to Sydney for an award show last week.

As usual many of the winners had me feeling a little envious.

But the next day, as I sat waiting 5 1/2 hours for my delayed flight home, I got to thinking;

Why are award shows the only place to see great work?

Sure we get the occasional moment of brilliance in our media, but for every great piece there are 100 duds.

Actually make that more than 100 duds.

So what do we as an industry need to do to improve the quality of our work?

Even just a little bit.

Not your average website

North Carolina agency Boone Oakley have done something seriously different for their website.

It's a YouTube video!

You're probably wondering, as I did, but what about links to work or clients etc?

Well they're all clickable from within the video.

Click them and they launch another video.

A very innovative and offbeat approach to the agency website.

If I was a client I'd definitely be interested in talking to them.

BBDO goes old school

BBDO in Italy have just launched their new website. It's a strictly old school affair.

And when I say old school that's exactly what I mean.

As the site loads you hear the sound of an old dial up modem.

Once loaded the site looks like it was programmed back in the 80s.

It's very creative. But so what!

I just don't know what a site like this is supposed to be saying about the agency.

Does it imply that they're stuck in the 80s? It certainly looks like it.

Click here to go take a look. Be sure to let me know what you think.
