Inspiration at home Pt.1
With all of us holed up at home for the foreseeable I thought I'd share a bit of creative inspiration for you this week.
I'm kicking it off today with the brilliant Miles Davis doco that has just landed on Netflix.
You definitely do not need to have an interest in jazz to get massive inspiration from this film.

No handshakes
South American e-com platform Mercado Libre has changed its handshake logo to an elbow tap to raise awareness of the importanance of keeping your distance during the Corna virus pandemic.
The site operates in 18 countries so getting the word (however subtly) across boarders is essential.
Kudos to Buenos Aires agency Gut who came up with the idea.

Got toilet paper?
In this time of toilet roll hoarding and shortage I thought I'd dig out an Aussie toilet paper classic. Enjoy.

Keep your distance
Social distancing. Just one of the many terms that have entered every day usage over the last few days.
Each time I pop to the supermarket in the hope of finding toilet paper I find myself at the checkout with people who are queuing that just don't get what social distancing is all about.
If only I could give each and every one of them this page from the New York Times.
Brilliantly simple.

Where there are cooks
Wieden + Kennedy London have been producing gloriously gorgeous work for Lurpak for some time. So of course this latest spot looks fabulous.
I'd love to be a flyon the wall when work like this is presented as I don't think many clients would get excited by an ad like this when it is simply a storyboard.
So kudos to the W+K team for building strong relationships with what must surely be a great client.

Anime Apple
How cute is this new TV spot from Apple Japan?
It features footage from a dozen or so popular anime films and shows.
What I really like is Apple's relaxed attitude to the way the animators have played with their logo.
Shows what a confident brand it is.

Bowl to Soul
Love the attention to detail in this anime inspired spot for noodle chain Wagamama. The sound design is absolutely spot on. Little Japanese/Miyaza moments everywhere.

Adidas is now 100% unfair
Big budget. Big names. Big brands.
These totally over the top sports brand ads get more and more ridiculous each year.
Still fun though!

Hairspray
I'm sorry. But if this ad doesn't bring a tear to your eyes then you are dead inside. Beautiful work from VCCP.

Finger Licking
In the fast food category we hear a lot about Burger King but for me it is KFC who are doing the most interesting work.
What I really love is that their creative people have gone back in time to resurrect The Colonel, the tagline 'Finger licking good' and also calling it Kentucky Fried Chicken again.
These nods to the past make KFC feel far more authentic than it has any right to be.
This new outdoor series from Mother London is a recent fave.
A picture paints a thousand words. Or in this case just two.
